Prize awarded to Al-Mushahid.net in Yemen in recognition of the quality of the media content it disseminates

Al-Mushahid.net, an independent news site in Yemen, was selected to follow the orientation programme for media initiatives in the Middle East and North Africa, led by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), on 26 October 2020.

The site Al-Mushahid.net was selected following a competition involving 200 Arabic websites and media projects. The site was selected to follow the orientation programme for media initiatives in the Middle East and North Africa along with eight other (winning) media projects at the top level in the Arab world. This programme aims to support and develop media projects by drawing up strategic plans and by working on their sustainability.

Al-Mushahid.net was selected in recognition of the reliable and responsible media content that it offers. Indeed, the site aims to promote a culture of peace and coexistence within Yemeni society. More specifically, the content of the site aims to reduce violence, defend minorities, highlight issues faced by women and children and reduce discrimination.

In addition, Al-Mushahid.net ensures that news is presented in simple and professional language, thanks to a team of editors and professional journalists positioned throughout Yemen, who ensure accurate and balanced coverage of events in the country.

Al-Mushahid.net was launched in 2016 by the SEMC (Studies and Economic Media Center), CFI’s partner in Yemen for two projects: YMER + and MAKANATI. Within the scope of these two projects, CFI is working with Al-Mushahid.net to disseminate humanitarian content and to promote content concerning the situation of women in Yemen.
