Citizen Connections: more than 300 applications received

Citizen Connections 2Following the success of the second Citizen Connections MOOC, the launch of which on 11 October 2021 attracted 5000 people to join, a call for applications was launched to select 25 young, innovative and committed project leaders to benefit from an incubation programme and develop their initiatives.
More than 300 application files were submitted from French-speaking Africa in one month. The sheer number of applications confirms just how interested young Africans are when it comes to developing civic tech projects.
A panel of experts will examine all the files this month and then hold oral interviews in March to identify the most suitable candidates. Particular attention will be given to projects that are led by women or which tackle gender-related issues.
The list of winners will be published in April 2022.
The 25 people selected will benefit from 8 months of editorial and technical support which will include three week-long collective incubation sessions and individual coaching provided by a local incubator and a mentor.
Project start-up grants may be provided at the end of the programme for projects deemed good enough.
The Citizen Connections project is co-funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
