Central Asian talent at FIPADOC: building connections and telling today’s true stories together

As part of the International Documentary Festival (FIPADOC) in Biarritz (23–31 January 2026), CFI invited four female directors from Central Asia to participate in meetings of sector professionals and present their film projects to producers during the special "Eurasian Visions" session, aiming to foster new co-production links between Europe and Central Asian countries.

These directors were selected from among CFI alumni at the Eurasiadoc co-production meetings held in Kazakhstan:
- Aizada Amangeldy (Kyrgyzstan)
- Banu Ramazanova (Kazakhstan)
- Mehrangez Saidmamadova (Tajikistan)
- Tynymgul Eshieva (Kyrgyzstan)

Their projects deal as much with critical environmental issues shared by France and Central Asian countries (preservation of water resources, melting glaciers, natural hazards) as with the social and geopolitical issues of our time (migrant communities in Russia in the context of the conflict in Ukraine, the struggle of women scientists to secure recognition for their work in a sector still dominated by men).

This delegation, led as part of the Horizons Medias project run by CFI with the support of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, aimed to facilitate the development of new links between the French and European documentary film sector and new talent from Central Asia, with a view to working together to tell the true stories of today.
