With the current political transition under way in Syria, Kalam min Souria aims to build the capacity of Syrian media outlets to communicate and document the news and contribute to public debate.

Ce projet-pilote, mis en œuvre en partenariat avec x, vise à soutenir les médias et les organisations de la société civile œuvrant dans le domaine de l'information.

The project focusses on three angles:

  • Organising a series of conferences and debates
  • Providing financial and editorial support for media outlets and civil society organisations
  • Running training courses for journalists working at public media outlets and students of journalism

- 8 to 10 independent media outlets and civil society organisations in Syria 
- 80 journalists working at public media outlets 
- 100 students of journalism
- Audiences of partner media outlets

Actions

Series of conferences and debates “Kalam min Souria”

  • Organisation of three webinars on themes that cover several key issues
  • Organisation of two conference-debates, one of which will be held at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Pariss

Support for independent media outlets and civil society organisations

  • Launch of a call for projects
  • Attribution of 8 to 10 subsidies
  • Setup of customised support

Training with the France Médias Monde Academy

  • Selection of 80 journalists from public media outlets and 100 students from the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Damascus
  • Three training workshops for each group, in person and via videoconference
