Presentation

Against a backdrop of political, economic and social crisis in Lebanon, this project aims to support investigative journalism locally in order to achieve greater transparency, push back against corruption and improve governance by instilling a sense of responsibility in public institutions.
This CFI-operated project known as Investigation Lebanon is part of the Expertise France programme “Support to Public Administration Reform in Lebanon”, funded by the EU.

CFI is to launch a call for candidates and will be selecting ten seasoned journalists, who work in Arabic, English and French, for Lebanese and regionwide media outlets, who wish to build their investigative capacity in at least one of the following themes: institutional responsibility and transparency, implementation of anti-corruption legislation, public administration and civil service reform in Lebanon.

In addition to funding for the investigation, CFI will offer support in the form of collective workshops attended by the selected journalists as well as tailored online expertise for each journalist.

A Forum in Beirut on investigation, and awards for the best investigations will wrap up the project.

Project beneficiaries

- 10 investigative journalists in Lebanon (of whom at least 40% women)
