Western Balkans: Announcing the Winners of #YouthVsFake Poster Competition

Western Balkans: Announcing the Winners of #YouthVsFake Poster Competition

Nearly 200 young creatives from across the Western Balkans responded to the call and now it’s time to reveal the winners.

Organised by CFI as part of the Shared Horizons (Component 3) project, funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the #YouthVsFake Poster Competition offered young people the opportunity to raise their voices against disinformation through powerful visual expression.

The Winners

An independent jury in each participating country selected three national winners based on originality, relevance to the theme, and visual impact.
The selection process was carried out with the highest standards of transparency and professionalism. The jury included representatives of the French embassies in the Western Balkans and representatives of CFI.

Launched in spring 2025, the competition invited young people under the age of 30 from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia to design original posters addressing the topic of disinformation, its mechanisms, its consequences, and how to counter it.
Participants were encouraged to be bold, symbolic, humorous, emotional, or abstract, using visual communication as a tool for critical thinking and civic engagement.

What’s next?

The winning posters will be displayed both online and in public exhibitions across the region. These works will be part of a wider media literacy campaign led by CFI and its partners in the Western Balkans, aiming to engage young audiences and spark public dialogue.

This competition is one of several activities developed under Balkan Voices 2 and Shared Horizons projects to support youth as active contributors to democratic and informed societies.
