CFI Forum 2026: informing Better Together

CFI Forum 2026: informing Better Together

On November 18 & 19, 2026, CFI will bring together journalists, media outlets, researchers, students, institutions, and civil society organisations from around sixty countries worldwide at La Communale in Saint-Ouen, France.

The objective?
To build coalitions and reflect together on the future of information in the face of existing challenges: disinformation, artificial intelligence, the safety of news professionals, and foreign interference.

Disinformation, AI, Media Outlets: Challenges That Transcend Borders

Manipulation of information, foreign interference, the rise of artificial intelligence, new digital practices, threats against journalists...Around the world, the conditions under which information, and misinformation, is produced and circulated are changing rapidly.
These transformations transcend national borders. They call into question the practices of journalists and the media, as well as the role of institutions, research, civil society, and private actors.
They also constitute a threat to the stability of states and to democracy.

In light of these challenges,
the CFI Forum: informing Better Together
will initiate discussions on several key themes

# The fight against disinformation
How can we better identify and counter the manipulation of information, particularly in the fields of climate and science, as well as disinformation in electoral contexts?
How can we strengthen cooperation among stakeholders working to ensure the integrity of information?
What coalitions do we need for tomorrow, and how can we build them in times of crisis?

# Innovation in the service of information integrity
Artificial intelligence is transforming the production, distribution, and consumption of information. It can also be misused to produce and amplify misleading or manipulated content. What are the conditions for the proper use of AI in the service of independent media?
The event will also highlight innovative tools and formats that integrate AI.

# The safety of news professionals and the viability of media structures
For quality information to be sustainable, it must be produced by actors who master journalistic ethics, but also by those who can work safely and monetize their production. Media business models will receive particular attention.
The Forum will also provide an opportunity to work practically on cybersecurity issues.

# The future of investigative journalism and OSINT, foreign interference, and media and information literacy, are other topics that will be given particular prominence during these meetings.

Working together to ensure the integrity of information

These issues are at the heart of CFI’s day-to-day work.
But none of these challenges can be addressed in isolation. The CFI Forum: Informing Better Together was therefore conceived as a forum for dialogue, for sharing experiences and for finding common solutions.

Information is a common good at risk. More than ever, we must build coalitions to defend everyone’s access to reliable and quality information.
This is the goal of the CFI Forum "Informing Better Together," which brings together civil society actors, media outlets, institutional partners, and private stakeholders committed to a common objective.
Emmanuelle Talon
Chief Executive Officer

Nearly 300 people are expected to attend.
Beneficiaries and partners of CFI projects will share their experiences and lessons learned from the field. The Forum will also bring together journalists and specialist investigators, researchers, representatives of French and international institutions, content creators, and stakeholders from the private sector.
French and European institutions involved in international cooperation will also be represented, alongside CFI’s international partners.

On the programme

Round-table discussions and debates, workshops, as well as open sessions, presentations of studies and projects, networking opportunities, and the presentation of the 2026 Francophone Fact-Checking Awards, organised by Factoscope, which recognise initiatives in fact-checking and the fight against disinformation in the Francophone world.

A half-day open to students

For the first time, the CFI Forum will also offer a half-day session open to the public, dedicated to mobilising Team France and European stakeholders to defend information integrity. It will highlight the expertise, initiatives, and mechanisms led by French stakeholders who contribute, both in France and internationally, to the fight against the manipulation of information.
