Mapping COVID cases in Côte d’Ivoire using open data

An open data training workshop was held in late September 2021 in Abidjan, providing technical support to the CICG as a leading supporter of the Open Government Partnership.

Data engineers from government departments, agencies and other public institutions received training on data publication quality standards and were made more aware of these standards. After completing a series of practical exercises, they were able to map the available data and produce an active map of COVID cases in Côte d’Ivoire by using the Datafair tool and the data available and also by generating images.

The training was useful and practical, as one of the attendees noted: This workshop helped me to gain the resources and knowledge I need to convince my department to fully embrace open data.
