COVID-19 protective kits handed out to 280 Yemeni journalists

As part of the YMER+ project, 280 COVID-19 protective kits were handed out to the YMER+ network journalists who are based in the five governorates of Yemen: Sana’a, Al Hudaydah, Ta’izz, Aden and Hadhramaut.

The global health crisis resulting from the COVID-19 epidemic has a devastating impact on the work carried out by journalists because they are interacting closely with information sources in the field every day. The recent health crisis has just compounded the other crises that have been affecting Yemen for a number of years now.

As it is imperative that Yemeni journalists receive protection when carrying out their work during these challenging times due to the spread of the epidemic, the protective kits that have been handed out include masks, hydro-alcoholic gel, gloves, social distancing tape, and protective visors.

In spite of all the risks and restrictions related to working in the field in Yemen, the YMER+ network journalists are continuously trying to provide reliable information about humanitarian aid for the Yemeni people.
