Presentation

In 2024, for the first time in 33 years, France will host the Francophonie Summit. This 19th edition, to be held from 3 to 5 October, will be one of the major international highlights of the year for France, shortly after the Olympic and Paralympic Games. To mark the occasion, CFI, in collaboration is inviting more than 40 students and trainers from nine French-speaking international journalism schools (Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, France, Belgium, Romania, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Cameroon) to come and cover the Summit as part of a temporary newsroom in Paris and Villers-Cotterêts.

 Several objectives are being pursued:

  • Training journalism students to cover an international event through a joint editorial project.
  • To raise students' awareness of the international issues surrounding press freedom and the fight against the manipulation of information.
  • Support the development of the Factoscope platform.
  • Develop students' professional networks and develop links between journalism schools and the CFI community.
  • Contribute to highlighting the challenges of the Francophonie Summit from an editorial point of view, particularly in French.

CFI will also take this opportunity to continue its support for the development of the French-language fact-checking platform "Factoscope.fr", drawing on a unique network of partners, contributing media and tools for media and information literacy.
