Shabab up! School project: 2nd multimedia workshop held in Tunisia

A 2 nd multimedia production workshop will be held between 9 and 19 March 2015 in the Kerkennah Islands, a chain of islands in the Mediterranean lying off the Tunisian coast.

Since 2013, CFI has been supporting two journalism colleges – the Higher Institute for Information and Communication (IPSI) in Tunis and the Institute for Journalism and Information Sciences (ISIC) in Rabat – as part of its Shabab up! project.

The aim of the Shabab up! project is to develop vocational training at these two colleges that is geared to the very latest requirements of the media industry in Tunisia. During the workshop, 11 Tunisian students from the IPSI and 2 Moroccan students from the ISIC will produce various multimedia articles focusing on what life is like for the residents of the Kerkennah Islands. The training sessions will be led by two journalists: Malek Khadhraoui, director of the Tunisian pure-player publication 'Inkyfada', and Julien Le Bot, the founding partner and editorial developer of the website 'Yakwala.fr'.

A 5-day introductory session to this short editorial assignment was held in February, during which the two workshop leaders ran through the fundamental theoretical aspects of digital journalism and helped the students to prepare their editorial projects.

The best articles produced will then be published online on 'Inkyfada'.

Shabab up! is funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development.
