Release of the One Health Atlas

An atlas showcasing the practical implementation of the “One Health” approach, with contributions from CFI through the Media for One Health project.

In July 2025, a brand-new atlas dedicated to the One Health theme was published in English by Quae, in partnership with CABI, and with support from Cirad and Agropolis Fondation. This atlas, blending concise texts with rich illustrations, was co-authored by over 150 experts from various continents and disciplines. It dives into the intricate connections between human, animal, plant, and environmental health.

The Media for One Health project aims to bridge the gap between science and the general public by training journalists in the One Health approach—so they, in turn, become fun and reliable messengers of scientific information. Naturally, CFI responded to the invitation from its partner CIRAD to contribute to the writing of this atlas.

Our article, titled “Engaging with professional media to raise public awareness of One Health”, was co-authored with CIRAD experts Flavie Goutard, Daan Vink, and Tu Tu Zaw Win. It describes how the project helped raise awareness among a broad audience about the importance of One Health, by fostering connections between journalists and scientists, and strengthening interactions between media outlets and their audiences.

A true resource for researchers, policymakers, students, and anyone curious about this approach, the One Health Atlas combines scientific rigor with accessibility to tackle key issues such as zoonotic diseases and food security. By analysing how One Health principles are embedded in global strategies, the atlas equips readers with the tools to imagine innovative solutions for a healthier, more sustainable future.

For example, the chapter dedicated to Media for One Health project describes the development cycle of a One Health story, from conception to publication, in the view of helping new similar project to emerge.

The One Health Atlas is available in print or as a free download from Quae’s website.
CThis atlas also perfectly illustrates the close collaboration between CFI and CIRAD within the Media for One Health project, with a shared goal: amplifying the impact of this initiative and spreading the One Health approach across the globe.
