#PAGOF webinar - Save The Date

#PAGOF webinar - Save The Date

On 1 December 2020, from 11:00 to 13:00 CET, the #PAGOF project is holding a webinar on the subject of COVID-19 and open government in French-speaking Africa: what initiatives are in place to provide access to reliable information?

In early 2020, the whole world was beginning to feel the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. In Africa, the first cases appeared in February. Every country on the African continent has been impacted, to a greater or lesser extent, by the pandemic, and they have all had to adopt emergency measures.

These measures have affected various areas of open government, particularly civic spaces, the right to reliable information, transparency and inclusion, with heavy restrictions.

The values of open government can come under intense pressure in times of disaster response. However, they can also make a significant contribution to achieving better results. The unprecedented challenges raised by COVID-19 have thus demonstrated the need for openness, transparency, inclusion and accountability, as well as showing how open data could provide a collective, effective and global response to a worldwide pandemic.

With this in mind, the #PAGOF project wishes to highlight some initiatives, either implemented by the Open Government Partnership (OGP) or through other initiatives in French‑speaking Africa, to respond to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in the areas of transparency, access to reliable information and open data.

You can now register for the webinar by clicking here.

Further information will be provided in the coming weeks.
