EBTICAR-Média 2015: pre-selection of 22 projects

A panel of judges comprising media professionals met on 16 April 2015 to pre-select 22 projects out of the 135 applicants eligible for the 2015 EBTICAR-Média project. Project leaders will soon be receiving invitations to attend the final selection board in Beirut.

In February 2015, with financial assistance from the European Union, CFI launched the second EBTICAR-Média call for projects aimed at supporting further development of online media in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.

This second call follows in the wake of the first call, which was launched in 2014, after which 11 projects were selected. All 11 projects received funding of between EUR 35 000 and 75 000, and their progress is currently being monitored.

Within the context of this second call, CFI received 256 applications. Of those, 135 were eligible and were closely examined by a panel of judges composed of senior members of CFI and the latter's partners ( Babelmed, the Anna Lindh Foundation and the Samir Kassir Foundation), as well as the expert Laurent Giacobino.
The panel short-listed 22 projects and the final selection will be made in Beirut from 2 to 6 June 2015, as part of the series of events to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of the journalist Samir Kassir.
