Digital Readings: 4 media outlets selected

Following the call for applications launched at the end of 2017, four francophone Lebanese digital media outlets – or Arabic-speaking outlets that develop content in French – were chosen to participate in the project.

  • As Safir Al Arabi is a digital platform that offers an independent publishing space – in Arabic, French and English – for journalists, researchers, artists and writers from the Arab world, with an Arabic-speaking regional audience and a non-Arabic-speaking international audience.
  • Kel Yom is a news website for 12-15 year-olds, in Arabic and French, which gives them pointers on how to follow, understand and analyse current events, and thus play a part in combating the spread of misinformation and hate speech.
  • Le Commerce du Levant is a French-language economic news website aimed at the Lebanese public and the diaspora.
  • Magazine is a French-language economic, political and social news website aimed at the Lebanese public and the diaspora.

All the projects presented aim to develop and structure Francophone online editorial offerings and to enhance the strategic, editorial, technical, marketing and economics skills of the teams.

The opening seminar of Digital Readings will be held in February 2018 and will contribute towards defining the individualised guidance programme for each of the media outlets.
