Civilnet takes on a new challenge: developing and producing podcasts

Five journalists from the Armenian online media outlet Civilnet are receiving training on how to develop and produce podcasts.

Podcasts have become one of the most popular storytelling formats. The Armenian online media outlet Civilnet, which publishes diverse content, including articles and video interviews, asked CFI to organise a training course on developing and producing podcasts.

The 7-day online training course, which will be led by RFI’s Elena Gabrielian will improve the journalists’ understanding of the various stages of podcast production:
- Choosing a topic that will draw people in and deciding on a visual and aural identity;
- Improving writing techniques and audio narration skills;
- Developing a content plan and choosing the best stories and formats for the podcast;
- Conducting interviews both in and out of the studio;
- Improving the technical aspects of production, recording and editing;
- Promoting the podcast on various platforms.

The first two days of the training course will combine theoretical case study work with practical exercises. Two days will focus on production, while two will be devoted to providing each journalist with one-to-one coaching. The course will conclude with a group debriefing day with all trainees in attendance.
