“Cacao” (Cocoa), a new series broadcast on Canal+ Afrique in June

CFI, in partnership with African producers and Canal+, is continuing its commitment to help develop quality television series. Following the success of "Invisibles" and "Sakho & Mangane", "Cacao" will be broadcast on Canal+ in Africa from 15 June 2020.

In 2017 and 2018, three training workshops in Côte d'Ivoire trained scriptwriters, selected following a call for applications, to write this series with direct and remote contributions from an expert. This intense training in scriptwriting led to the birth of Cacao.

A contemporary family saga, Cacao is a thriller set against the backdrop of the rivalry between the Desva and the Ahitey families, who are waging a merciless war over cocoa, the brown gold of West Africa. A true African blockbuster, this series of twelve 50-minute episodes, directed by Alex Ogou, brings together a pan-African cast of more than 70 actors from Côte d'Ivoire, Gabon, Congo and Senegal.

“My hope is that Cacao will confirm that authentic and ambitious African productions can today attract and reach millions of people across the continent and around the world." Alex Ogou, director and producer
