4M Caucasus: Two workshops in Tbilisi with Netgazeti

At the end of 2015, the Georgian online news outlet Netgazeti is benefiting from training sessions on Google Analytics / Longform and data.

Following the 4M Tbilisi Forum in November 2013, CFI launched 4M Caucasus, a project for the mentoring and professionalization of four online newspapers from the Caucasus. Over 18 months, Netgazeti (Georgia), Hetq, Civilnet (Armenia) and Charter97 (Belarus) have thus benefited from the expertise of consultants and journalists within their editorial teams.

A group meeting about the project, which took place in Tbilisi in September 2015, made it possible to determine the next steps to be taken with each of the partners. After the definition of an economic model and a change of CMS, these translate, for Netgazeti, into two three-day training sessions in November and December.

During the first one, Cédric Motte, a journalist, consultant and CFI expert, addressed the use of the multisite Wordpress model, in conjunction with Bearstech. He then dealt with developing and deepening the use of Google Analytics, and the use of the long formats and new formats of storytelling, so as to optimise Netgazeti's editorial strategy.

The aims of the second workshop, from 15 to 17 December 2015, are to prepare the launch of a permanent data project and to work on the publication of 'little' dataviz in order to launch Netgazeti in this format.
