Why did you choose to get into photojournalism?
Adeokun Adesegun
:"I was drawn to the profession by my passion for storytelling and my desire to document events happening around me for future generations. I wanted a career that not only allowed me to make money but also to grow intellectually and become a better person. Photojournalism fits the bill perfectly."

What are the main challenges you face as a young Nigerian photographer?
Adeokun Adesegun
: "The Nigerian population and media don't yet understand the true value of photography. Orders and commissions for local media outlets are few and far between. In addition, there are no schools or institutions in which to study photography."

What has the Naija in Lights project done for you so far?
Adeokun Adesegun
: "Knowledge is power and Naija in Lights has given me the opportunity to learn a great deal about photography from industry experts who I admire and whose work inspires me. This programme is providing me with a safe environment for networking with other young professionals, which has allowed me to understand what it really means to 'carry out a personal project'. StoryMi and CFI also support me financially, which enables me to continue with this project, which is very close to my heart."
