Comunidad Informada
Presentation
CFI and its partners Chequeado, the Gabo Foundation and AFP launch the “Comunidad Informada” project..
Funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the project focuses on improving journalists' fact-checking skills, promoting information and media literacy, and developing critical citizenship in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
It will support the creation of a regional community of journalists, fact-checkers and information and media literacy organisations in order to facilitate the exchange of best practice, strengthen the resilience of populations in the face of campaigns to manipulate information and defend the democratic agenda.
To this end, CFI will support 400 journalists in identifying and deconstructing false information, and will provide training for around thirty people in the region so that these skills can be multiplied over time.
Chequeado - a partner based in Argentina with a network of organisations in Latin America - will be carrying out information and media literacy activities aimed at 300 secondary school teachers and 2,000 young people, while the Gabo Foundation, based in Colombia, will be responsible for organising debates on ideas at national and regional level to help develop critical thinking in favour of informed and committed citizenship.
