Special Artists and Citizenship broadcast at FESPACO 2017

Four private Burkinian channels got together, from 11 February to 5 March 2017, to compile a broadcast on citizenship during the Pan-African Film and Television Festival in Ouagadougo (FESPACO).

As part of the Faso Media 2 TV section, the directors of Impact TV, Burkina Info, BF1 and Canal 3 opted to pool resources to produce a joint broadcast, live and in a unique setting (the Institut français), with support from four experts: Jean-Baptiste Prédali (a journalist), Christophe Coutens (director), un Philippe Marchais (camera operators-video journalist) et José Raharison (sound engineer-editor).

This technical and editorial private television channel synergy enabled all the parties involved to step outside the sometimes restricted confines of programme production and day-to-day working. Those involved saw this project as an opportunity to expand their horizons in journalism and to take part in a common task, together with civil society organisations, NGOs or other associations, addressing the concept of "citizenship".

With a view to keeping this action going in the future, the teams from the four television channels will, between now and May, devise a new topical magazine programme on citizenship to be incorporated into each channel's programme schedule.
