Radio Dialogue: radio stations for peace

Radio Dialogue: radio stations for peace

Launched in February 2014, the "Radio Dialogue" project aims to help strengthen national cohesion and inter-community reconciliation in the Ivory Coast through the medium of local radio.

This project aims to assist with management and community relations at 16 local stations, in order to foster or enhance a spirit of cooperation between broadcasters and civil society organisations working towards reconciliation and social cohesion. The goal is to make radio stations into genuine crucibles of social cohesion through work focusing on station management and programme production. It is being funded by the European Union Delegation to the Ivory Coast and is led by France Médias Monde, in partnership with CFI and the Ivory Coast Union of Community Radio Stations (URPCI).

Ten months into the project, CFI has completed its management improvement course for station directors, and has trained three Ivorian coaches in local radio management. The coaches will now carry out assessment and coaching work at each station involved in the project. Meanwhile, RFI is beginning its work in support of programme production on social cohesion themes.
