Perspectives on journalism in Libya: ethics and integrity

A dozen or so Libyan journalists came together in Tunis between 30 January and 1 February 2017 for the first meeting of the Hiwar project.

The session was an opportunity to examine the principles and practicalities of ethical journalism in light of the situation created by the Libyan crisis.
The assembled journalists gave their views on ethics in journalism and on applying a code of integrity when covering events linked to the situation in Libya.

In particular, the question of how to deal with armed violence was evidently a subject of much debate during the session. It also became apparent that the Libyan media now have an important influence on public debate.
