Echoes of Women’s Voices: female contributors trained

The Association Initiatives Citoyennes (Citizens' Initiatives Association, AIC) gave a training course on media production techniques to the young female contributors of the Echoes of Women's Voices project on 16 and 17 March 2019 in Marrakesh.

In all, 16 female representatives from associations, equal opportunities bodies and women's cooperatives were present. They had travelled from various Moroccan provinces, namely Alhouz, Shishawa, Essaouira, Safi, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Youssoufia and Marrakesh. Also in attendance were the young female leaders of the AIC, which has its head office in Marrakesh.

During the two-day course, every participant had the opportunity to discover and learn more about the journalist profession, especially from an associative perspective, taking the example of KechRadio – the radio station run by the AIC.

They were able to debate and put forward issues and themes that they believed to be essential and urgent in their respective municipalities, such as young girls leaving school, minor girls being forced into marriage, access to education, and the problems associated with migration.
They then turned their hands to producing content via various forms of journalism (articles, radio programmes, portraits/eyewitness accounts).

The training course allowed the team of female contributors, who will form the heart and soul of Echoes of Women's voices to become more tightly knit. Two young men have also been selected as contributors, and were fully involved in the course.
