Echoes gives young people a voice in the media

As part of its Echoes programme, the Algerian association ADCE (Association de Développement des Capacités des Étudiants) offers journalism students practical training in the digital field to complement theoretical studies.

Since May 2019, its team has trained 120 young people from the Oran region.

In the digital and internet age, journalism 2.0 is establishing itself as the primary form of journalism. It offers many tools to produce content using innovative techniques. This is the vision of Echoes, which offers innovative and creative communication, journalism and community management workshops.

Training courses in audiovisual "...at showing appreciation for Algerian women and their place in society today." creation and production for young aspiring journalists and communicators are led by specialists from all over Algeria.

"We have set ourselves the objective of enhancing the presence of young people in the media by providing them with the necessary working tools and following educational approaches based on discussion and innovation. At the end of the work, they put into practice all that they have learned by producing advocacy and promotional videos aimed, primarily, at showing appreciation for Algerian women and their place in society today", says Soumia, a member of the association ADCE.

Echoes is one of the 18 projects that was selected and has been receiving support from D-Jil since 2018. What these ambitious and innovative projects have in common is a desire to do things differently and to open up new perspectives for young people in the Arab world through topics that affect and concern them.

Co-financed by the European Union and supported by CFI, in partnership with the Fondation Samir Kassir, FMAS, IREX Europe and Leaders of Tomorrow, D-JIL fosters active citizenship and autonomy in young people in nine Arab world countries, using online media as a vehicle.
