Ebticar-Media: the 8 award-winners

EBTICAR-Media – Support for innovative online mediaEight projects from the Arab world were selected by a jury of professionals that met in Beirut from 2 to 6 June as part of Ebticar-Media 2015.
With European Union funding, in February 2015 CFI, the French media cooperation agency, launched a second call for projects aimed at supporting online media development in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.
The 22 preselected finalists were received in Beirut from 2 to 6 June 2015, where they showcased their projects for the final selection. This session was also an opportunity for project leads to attend meetings with professionals in the media sector and to exchange experiences with winners of the Samir Kassir prize.
The jury, composed of CFI, the latter's Babelmed partners, the Anna Lindh Foundationandthe Samir KassirFoundation, and also the expertLaurentGiacobino[1], chose the following8projects:

Alternatives pour un monde différent section la Tunisie, an Ebticar finalist, was also chosen by the jury as service provider. Alternatives will also act as the award-winners' cyber security expert.
The initiatives chosen will, over the period of 2015 / 2016, receive CFI funding ranging from EUR 45 000 to EUR 60 000 each.
This call for projects completes the first call launched in 2014, from which 11 projects were selected.
The EBTICAR-Media project is run by CFI in partnership with the Babelmed Mediterranean portal (Italy), the Samir Kassir Foundation (Lebanon) and Anna Lindh Foundation (Egypt) with technical support from Expertise France.
It is part of the 4M, journalism and social media programme launched three years ago by CFI in the Arab world, Africa, the Balkans, the Caucusus and south east Asia, which offers meetings, training courses, consultancy services and mentoring in technical and editorial fields for traditional online media or "pure players".
