Civil society leaders introduced to social media in Benin

The participants in the Citizen Dialogues project have received training in the use of social media and the development of online presence strategies.

The chief editors of community radio stations, the town hall communications officers and the citizen participation unit managers of the seven towns covered by the project received training from three members of the Association des Blogueurs du Bénin (Benin Bloggers Association - AB-Bénin), from 19 to 23 December 2016 in Parakou, Benin.

In addition to acquiring practical know-how, they were also shown the wide range of possibilities provided by digital technology in combination with traditional methods of communication. Greater speed, greater scope, sharing experiences without borders and, above all, efficient monitoring while respecting certain principles which make users reliable contacts.

This action made it possible to forge strong links between civil society leaders and local authorities.
