The Balkan News Truck hits the road to Fight Disinformation
Related project
Shared Horizons (Component 3)The Balkan News Truck officially kicked off its journey this week, bringing media and information literacy straight to young people and communities across the Western Balkans.
Balkan News Truck is a traveling platform crossing six Western Balkan countries, exploring news, photography, and critical thinking. At each stop, in central public spaces, it offers screenings, quizzes, and discussions on how information is created, shared, and perceived.
Over the next three months, the truck will make stops in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia, turning central squares, universities, and public spaces into open classrooms for fact-checking, discussions, and interactive workshops. Local implementation is led by Metamorphosis and Congress Travel Service.
The goal: to strengthen the ability of citizens, especially youth - to spot disinformation, question sources, and build resilience against manipulation online.

First stops: Kosovo
The road trip began in Prizren on 8 September, followed by Mitrovica, Peja, and Prishtina. Each stop will feature:
- “Spot the Disinfo Superpower” Quiz, testing how well participants can recognize fake news.
- Hands-on Fact-checking Workshop, practical training to verify sources and detect false information.
- Q&A Discussions with Experts and Local Speakers, exploring the impact of disinformation and how to counter it.
Next destinations
From Kosovo, the Balkan News Truck will continue its journey across the region, including Bosnia and Herzegovina (Tuzla, Sarajevo, Mostar), Montenegro (Podgorica, Bar, Bijelo Polje), Albania (Tirana, Elbasan, Lezha), North Macedonia (Bitola, Gostivar, Shtip, Skopje), and Serbia (Novi Sad, Nish, Krushevac).
Each city will host tailored activities, from interactive quizzes and debates to storytelling workshops, fact-checking games, and citizen outreach events. The program is designed to make media literacy engaging, accessible, and practical.
A regional initiative for stronger democracies
By traveling through the Western Balkans, the Balkan News Truck fosters cross-border dialogue on the importance of trustworthy information and highlights the role of young people in building more democratic, resilient societies.
The project is part of the Shared Horizons (component 3rd) project, funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and implemented by Expertise France, CFI, ALDA, Play International, Institut français and Museum 90.
