Tunisia Podcasts Festival 2023: a celebration of diversity and creativity

PAMT2This festival, organised with support from PAMT2, was held for the first time from 7 to 9 December 2023 in Tunis.
With their range of content for the general public, and young people in particular, podcasts took charge of the digital audio scene a few years ago. In Tunisia, this format offers an alternative platform to the traditional media. It has allowed people to invest in their passions by covering a range of topics, including culture, history, politics, art, and many more. The Tunisia Podcasts Festival is a celebration of this diversity and creativity.
The event was held in the B7L9 Art Station in Bhar Lazreg, Tunis and the Artisto cultural centre. This first edition, supported by PAMT2, the Institut français in Tunis and GIZ, fostered meet-ups and discussions between creators, listeners and professionals working in the sector. Networking sessions, workshops and conferences were held to provide a space suitable for learning, collaboration and inspiration.
An influential media format
This aspect of the festival helped not only to strengthen Tunisia's podcast community, but also to promote podcasts as an influential media format. The Tunisia Podcasts Festival was a trailblazing event in terms of the variety of content on offer, with educational podcasts, entertainment shows, in-depth interviews and captivating stories. It offered attendees an immersive experience that enabled them to celebrate podcast culture in Tunisia and the Maghreb.
