SafirLab: a new meeting in Tunisia

SafirLab: a new meeting in Tunisia

On 3–5 February 2016, 15 former participants from the three previous rounds of the media section of the SafirLab project met in Tunis for a new session.

Bringing the participants of the three years of SafirLab back together to explore common themes marks a new step for this project, which is designed to be not only a 'project accelerator' but also a long-term support system.
It will help to build solidarity with media activists and entrepreneurs in the countries on the south bank of the Mediterranean which are currently in a difficult situation.

Since 2012, SafirLab has taken on the role of providing support to young people from six countries in the Arab world on developing projects on the issues of citizenship, media and local government.
Having hosted new project leaders each year in Paris from 2012 to 2014, this new session brought together the people who have been the driving force behind the programme in order to help them better confront the numerous obstacles and challenges they face as they carry out their initiatives.

Sharing experiences and good practices

On the agenda for these meetings were exchanges with professionals and three days of workshops to share experiences and good practices and analyse in detail the various problems the young people face on a day-to-day basis as they develop their projects.

To finish, everyone was asked to think about 'the SafirLab of their dreams' during a brainstorming session and work in small groups encouraging reflection on the forthcoming 2016 programme!
