The AIC – an environmentally friendly association

The Citizens' Initiatives Association (Association Initiatives Citoyennes - AIC) is committed to reducing its environmental impact, and has embarked on a year-long mission to plant two trees every week in the various municipalities and villages benefiting from the Echoes of Women's Voices project, which it is carrying out in partnership with CFI, the French media development agency.

The AIC has not only a social responsibility, but also an environmental responsibility. It has adopted a sustainable development approach, and has an environmentally conscious philosophy. It is committed to protecting the environment, and has set up an offsetting scheme which requires it to plant two trees each week in municipalities and villages across the Marrakesh-Safi region.

The AIC takes to the road every week with its KechRadio mobile studio, which allows young women in the Marrakesh-Safi region to make their voices heard. During each visit, new social relationships are forged with women in rural communities, new seeds are sown and new branches grow.

The principle of proximity lies at the heart of all of the AIC's activities. The association remains close to male and female citizens in the Marrakesh-Safi region by addressing topical issues, allowing residents in the region to make their voices heard, and helping to maintain a healthy, green environment. In this context, trees represent the most effective way of filtering polluted air and making it pure once more.

The AIC and its contributors have pledged to plant 72 trees over the course of a year in the various municipalities they visit. Through this initiative, the AIC is seeking not only to offset the CO2 emissions produced by its mobile studio, but also to raise awareness amongst the young women living in the region and make them feel more involved, so that the environment and people's overall well-being can be better protected.
